Internationally recognised company, Marine Safety Supplies, has expanded its workforce and is enjoying business growth following support from North of Tyne Innovation Recovery Grant.
The grant, and working with Absolute Quality Consultancy & Training, helped the Tyneside-based company develop a range of systems and processes to stay globally competitive and compliant.
They developed a long-term resilience and action plan to achieve further future growth. This included introducing a digital sales platform and improving its internal management system.
Alan Ellis, Director at Marine Safety Supplies, said: “The funding enabled our business to turn an opportunity into reality and unlock a whole new world of possibilities for our business.
“We recommend any business that has an opportunity that could change the way they work for the better, consider North of Tyne Innovation Recovery Grant funding to support that journey.”
Trading since 2003, Marine Safety Supplies operate in a global market dictated by strict regulations. The ever-increasing regulations and evolving customer needs led the business to identify ways to improve its processes and systems to secure continued business growth and manage risks.
The introduction of a digital sales platform means the company can now sell a range of products globally, 24 hours a day. It incorporates a quicker purchasing method to ensure a swift response.
The North of Tyne Innovation Recovery Grant was used in conjunction with capital investment allowing Marine Safety Supplies to secure support from Absolute Quality Consultancy & Training, which specialises in helping businesses drive continual improvement.
They worked together to identify gaps in the growth strategy and seek additional opportunities to support business expansion.
The gap analysis exercise identified ways to practically turn opportunities into reality, how to plan the development of the company in the most efficient and effective way, and how to build new capabilities in the business.
As well as implementing the new digital sales platform, the company also put systems and processes in place to help secure further global expansion and ensure changes in regulation across their market are quickly identified, tracking performance against competitor and market KPIs.
With new members of staff now joining the business, thanks to this investment and support, the business can now operate globally and respond to the needs of its international customer base with ease.
The North of Tyne Innovation Recovery Grant is funded by the North of Tyne Combined Authority’s Recovery Innovation Fund. It is delivered in partnership by NBSL and Innovation SuperNetwork.
